Ideal dose in RT

The continuous evolution of radiotherapy towards personalized medicine and greater control of all phases of treatment have led to the development of an algorithm for optimizing and evaluating treatment plans.
The ideal dose algorithm, implemented within the GPS (Guided Planning Solution) and the iTA Data platform, arises from the need to personalize the treatment on the morphological and quantitative specifications of the patient and at the same time guarantee a reference benchmark for the evaluation of treatment plans.

The algorithm uses a built-in series of gradient functions which, starting from a target volume circumscribed on the CT/CBCT and the relative prescription dose, generates a dose distribution which guarantees 100% coverage of the target volume and maximum sparing for the surrounding OARs, compatibly with the proximity and intersection with the volume to be treated.

The dose matrix calculated can then be used for studies, comparisons and quantitative as well as qualitative analyses of the dose distribution obtained. The ideal dose algorithm allows highly personalized treatment plans and greater control over all phases of treatment.
The peculiarity of the algorithm consists in the customization of the dose gradients (medium and low) according to the type of planning.
